MMSys 2011

February 23-25, 2011
San Jose, California

Executive Summary

MMSys 2011 introduced a number of new features to the conference. The first was the inclusion of a “dataset” track to which researchers submitted datasets along with a short paper characterizing the dataset. Those selected for inclusion were given an opportunity to present the dataset at the conference and archive it through MMSys. The dataset description is published within the conference proceedings and can act as an appropriate citation for future researchers who might then use the dataset in their own research. The dataset track is expected to become a permanent feature of MMSys conferences going forward.

Also embedded within this year’s technical program was a special session on Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH). The papers within the special session were chosen from submissions to a separate Call For Papers and selected by a more specialized technical program committee.

This year’s conference was generously hosted by Cisco. The MMSys organizing committee gratefully acknowledges this generous show of support for this research community and welcomes the participation of all industry researchers.
