Call for Workshop Proposals

Overview
ACM Multimedia 2012 Organization Committee invites active members of community to submit workshop proposals. The workshops should be focused and enable robust discussions and interactions on current or emerging topics of interest. They should allow members of the community to compare and discuss approaches, methods, and new concepts on research topics pertinent to the main conference. These topics often offer emerging interests to the multimedia research community or provide pathways to new communities.

Workshop proposals for ACM Multimedia 2012 should include:

  • Title and specific goals
  • Specific topics to be addressed
  • Relevance and significance of this workshop to the main conference
  • A history of the workshop, if not being offered for the first time
  • Estimated paper submission volume and paper acceptance rate
  • Expected attendance
  • Length – Full day or half day
  • Indication if a journal special issue arrangement of the published workshop paper is in process
  • A draft workshop call for papers with:
    • The names, affiliations, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of the workshop organizers, who should be experts in the related topics and preferably from multiple institutions
    • The paper selection process
    • A list of potential Program Committee members and their affiliations

Workshop proposals should not exceed 3 pages and should be submitted to the Workshop Chairs.
Workshop proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Quality and level of detail of the proposal
  • Theme of the workshop and its relevance to the main conference
  • Overall balance of the conference workshop program

  • Proposal Submission Deadline:      March 12, 2012
  • Proposal Acceptance:                        March 26, 2012

  • Workshop overview (2 pages):       July 30, 2012 August 5, 2012 (Should be sent from the Workshop organizers to the publication chairs: publication@acmmm12.org)
  • Camera Ready to the publisher (From the authors to Sheridan Press):     July 23, 2012 August 15, 2012
  • Workshop Day: expected to be separated from the main conference October 29, 2012 or November 2, 2012
