ACM MM2009 Workshops Call for Proposals PDF version of Call For Papers

Scope

ACM Multimedia Workshops should address "clearly focused" topics. These topics pertinent to the main conference often offer emerging interest to multimedia research community or bridge the community with other areas.

Workshop Format and Date

One-day workshops can be accommodated.

The workshop day for ACM Multimedia 2009 is Friday, October 23, 2009.

It can be extended to Oct. 24, 2009, if necessary.

Proceedings

The proceedings will be published together with the proceedings of the main conference in electronic format by ACM.

Timeline

Workshop proposals must be submitted by March 16, 2009.

Notification of acceptance will be by April 3, 2009.

Early acceptance may be given to competitive proposals.

Organizers can decide on their own deadlines for submission and reviews, but final submission must comply with the overall proceedings rules. In particular,

  • papers must be submitted online and peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers
  • maximum paper length is 10 pages (a smaller maximum may be prescribed by workshop organizers)
  • the general conference deadline of July 24 for camera-ready papers must be obeyed.

Proposal Format and Submission

Workshops should have clear focus.

Proposals must be submitted by the deadline indicated above to the two Workshop Co-Chars by email. Their contact email address is at the bottom of this page.

Proposals must include the following information:

  1. 1) Content of the Workshop
    • a) Title
    • b) Tentative Text (Body) of the Call for Papers
    • c) An abstract addressing -as far as not yet covered by 1b)- the following issues:
      • the rationale for the workshop (in particular: why is the proposal appropriate to ACM MM, what is the target audience, and what do the organizers anticipate the participants will learn.)
      • tentative review/selection procedure and timeline,
      • expected number of participants,
      • 'series' context (is the workshop part of a series? Was it held before? If so, when/where)
      • any further information considered relevant b) and c) together should comprise several hundred words
  2. 2) For each of the proposers:
    • a) Name, Affiliation
    • b) Short Bio, including a description of the expertise in the topic(s) of the workshop (around 150-250 words each)
  3. 3) Tentative Program Committee (Name+Affiliation of members)
