Brave New Topics

The 17th Annual ACM International Conference on Multimedia (MM'09) will be held in Beijing, China from October 19-23, 2009. ACM Multimedia is the premier technical multimedia conference attended by an international community of researchers from both academia and industry. ACM Multimedia 2009 is seeking to extend the boundaries of multimedia research presented at the conference by soliciting proposals for its Brave New Topics sessions.

Historically, the Brave New Topics (BNT) sessions have been well-attended and enthusiastically received by conference participants. In 2009, we are open to proposals for special sessions dealing with topics typically not covered at ACM Multimedia. Each proposal will be evaluated in terms of its expected ability to excite and inspire MM'09 participants to engage in new areas of research.

Each BNT proposal is expected to consist of either a single topic or a coordinated set of topics managed by a session organizer. A single paper proposal will be integrated into one hybrid BNT session. We expect to be able to accommodate one or two other special BNT sessions that are coordinated by the session organizer. In this latter case, the BNT proposal is expected that outlines the scope of the session and the expected participants. Session organizers and the BNT chairs will work together on organizing the composition of the BNT sessions.

Submission Instructions

What to submit:

For individual BNT papers: a title and a one-page abstract, focusing on the 'newness' of the topic.

Any special equipment requirements should be noted as part of the proposal.
